The idea of a basic income, “an income unconditionally granted to all on an individual basis, without means test or work requirement”[1] is something that Social Justice Ireland has been proposing for decades. At its core, a Basic Income is a guaranteed payment from the State to every resident - on an individual basis - without any means test or work requirement and intended to provide for a subsistence level lifestyle for everyone.
Our latest publication on Basic Income provides a quick, user-friendly, guide to how a real Basic Income pilot could be delivered in Ireland.
