Social Policy Conference to address the issue of Progress
As Irish people reflect on the recent past and how the plentiful resources available in those years were used, major questions arise concerning our understanding of progress. Social Justice Ireland is organising a social policy conference on the issue of ‘progress’ and how it should be measured. The conference will be held in Dublin on Tuesday, November 17, 2009. It will have a wide range of speakers, Irish and international, who will look at the issue of progress and how it has been measured to date. A number of approaches to measuring progress will be presented and proposals will be made on how Ireland should adjust its present approach to ensure the measurement of progress goes beyond measuring gross domestic product (GDP). Details will be available on this website soon. In the meantime, put the date in your diary.
