The European Union never fully recovered from the financial crisis and without substantial and coordinated action now, the current social and economic crisis could destroy it. A strong response based on the European Social Model is required. This response must be based on investment in a sustainable future, in our social and human capital.
The aim of the European Pillar of Social Rights is to take account of the changing realities of Europe’s societies and the world of work. Failure to deliver a balanced policy approach between economic and social policy across the European Union for several decades has contributed to the crisis that Europe finds itself in today.
