Statement from Social Justice Ireland on the passing of Justin Kilcullen
It is with great shock and sadness that the Board and Staff of Social Justice Ireland has learned of the passing of our friend and board member, Justin Kilcullen. Justin had been a member of the Board of Social Justice Ireland for almost 10 years and had served as our Chairperson for two terms from 2015 to 2021. Justin Kilcullen was an outstanding friend and supporter of Social Justice Ireland.
Professor Tony Fahey, Chairperson of the Board of Social Justice Ireland, said that “Through his many years of service both as member and Chairperson of the Board Justin Kilcullen was an outstanding friend and supporter of Social Justice Ireland. He was always wise, knowledgeable and strong in his commitment to social justice and in his support for the work of SJI.”
John McGeady, CEO of Social Justice Ireland, paid tribute saying, “Justin greatly contributed to the work of the Board of Social Justice Ireland for many years, guiding the organisation with his long experience, insightful judgement and commitment to the values of social justice and human rights.”
Dr Seán Healy, former CEO of Social Justice Ireland, noted Justin's lifelong commitment to social justice and human rights in Ireland and across the planet, "The positive impact of his commitment and leadership was and is felt by a great many of the poorest communities across the world."
We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife Róisín and their family.
